PP physical properties:

Polypropylene is a non-toxic, odorless, tasteless milky white highly crystalline polymer with a density of only 0.90-"0.91g / rm. It is one of the lighter species in all plastics today. It is particularly stable to water. The water absorption is only 0.01%, and the molecular weight is about 81.5 million. The moldability is good, but the shortening rate is large (1% ~ 2.5%). Thick-walled products are easy to sink, and for some parts with high dimensional accuracy, Difficult to reach the requirements, the surface of the product is good, easy to color.

Mechanical properties

Polypropylene has high crystallinity and regular structure, so it has excellent mechanical properties. The value of polypropylene mechanical properties is higher than that of polyethylene, but it still belongs to the lower category in plastic materials, and its tensile strength can only reach 30 MPa or slightly higher level. Polypropylene with a larger isotactic index has higher tensile strength, but as the isotactic index progresses, the impact strength of the material decreases, but it does not change after falling to a certain value.

Temperature and loading rate have a great influence on the resistance of polypropylene. When the temperature is higher than the glass transition temperature, the impact failure is resistant to fracture, the brittle fracture is lower than the glass transition temperature, and the impact strength value is greatly reduced. Increasing the loading rate can increase the temperature at which the resistant fracture changes to the brittle fracture. Polypropylene has excellent resistance to bending fatigue, and its products can be bent 106 times at normal temperature without damage.

However, at room temperature and low temperature, the impact strength is poor due to its high molecular structure regularity. The performance of polypropylene is resistance to bending fatigue, commonly known as pleated rubber.
